Geelong Waterfront Safe Harbour, VIC

Project management, wave attenuator and marina design

AW Maritime was engaged to project manage the marine aspects of the $15million Geelong Waterfront Safe Harbour project. The project involved the redevelopment of the Geelong Yacht Club and Victorian Sailing School into world class facilities, and the expansion of the existing marina.

The centerpiece of the marine works is a new $10million, 440m long floating wave attenuator. Named after the Wadawurrung language for Boomerang, Wangim Walk stretches out over Corio Bay to form one of Australia’s longest on-water walkways, providing a safe harbour to the Royal Geelong Yacht Club and allowing the public to walk on water.
