The City of Port Phillip engaged AW Maritime to provide a detailed design for the renourishment of Middle Park Beach, with the goal of increasing the beach area to minimise coastal erosion.  Dredging contractor, Maritime Constructions recently commenced the works which involves the dredging of around 37,000m³ of sand from a borrow site located 750m offshore and pumping it back to the beach.  The project, which is funded by the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) will not only enhance the beach as a public amenity but also protect it from future weather events.
