AW Maritime is proud to have delivered design services for new infrastructure to relocate the Spirit of Tasmania operations to Corio Quay South, Geelong.
The selected site at Corio Quay was an existing 200m wharf with an excellent water approach and protected berth pocket. As the lead designers AW Maritime developed a functional design for the new marine and linkspan infrastructure, completed the detailed design with early Contractor Involvement and continued to provide services throughout construction.
The best word we can find to describe the project is ‘big’ in every way, starting with a big idea, requiring big construction plant to lift big structural elements, a big new beginning for the Spirit of Tasmania with a bigger ship on the horizon.
To deliver the project AW Maritime acknowledge key contributions made by GeelongPort (with APP providing a lead Project Management role), TT-Line Pty Ltd, Fitzgerald Constructions Australia Pty Ltd and Crib Point Engineering Pty Ltd. There is a long list of local sub-contractors and sub-consultants that also engaged with AWM to deliver the world class structural form.
We look forward to the first sailing on 23 October 2022.
A great team effort by AW Maritime on our largest project to date – congratulations.
