Structural Assessment, Pile Rehabilitation Design and Construction Phase Services
AW Maritime were engaged by Ports Victoria to provide technical advice for their annual pile rehabilitation program. This has included a continuity of services by AWM for the past six years covering for Stage 4 (2019), Stage 5 (2020), Stage 6 (2021), Stage 7 (2022), Stage 8 (2023), Stage 9 (2024) and Stage 10 (2025).
AWM assessed detailed survey data from divers to determine the current WSCAM and structural rating for each of the surveyed piles (typically 1000+ piles each year). Following that analysis, the result was compared to all recent dive survey data (<5 years) determining the most critical piles for repair each year based on an in-house risk profile and matrix.
AW Maritime then determined the highest risk piles for future repairs based on a risk profile and to correctly scope the repair based on current dive surveys and structural engineering assessment. The annual repair scope was then presented in drawings with a supporting technical specification and bill of quantities.
AWM then supplied technical and engineering support during the pile repairs construction phase. This included review of the pre-construction dive survey with comments and approvals, responding to RFIs with appropriate sketches and construction drawings, monthly site inspections, assessing contractor monthly claims, responding to engineering issues, reviewing quality records, coordinating the timber testing program and reporting, and producing as built documentation.
AWM provided value to the project through their quality assurance review, data capture, monthly project tracking and accurate record keeping.
