In the Improving the Physical Environment category, Parks Victoria’s – Portarlington Safe Harbour was nominated, with the project described by the Victorian Coastal Council (VCC) as a project which engaged commercial and recreational users, local community and government bodies to deliver an aspirational outcome.  AW Maritime’s involvement included the detailed design and tender documentation for the redevelopment of the harbour including a new pier and loading platform, precast concrete wavescreen, and significant breakwater works. The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning – Sorrento Seawall was a finalist in the Planning and Management category, described by the VCC as an innovative example of coastal public space design and adaption that encourages multi-purpose use without loss of functionality.  The project team involved in this project consisted of the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, Maw Civil, AW Maritime and Cardno, with AW Maritime overseeing the detailed design of the project.
