AW Maritime were commissioned to undertake a feasibility study on the usage of mobile harbour crane LHM280 on Appleton Berth D & E. There were timber piles which had not been inspected nor repaired prior to the study. With the mobile harbour crane imposing loads in excess of the Port Land Chart and presence of marine borer at the site, it was vital to ensure integrity of the timber piles loaded directly by the crane’s outriggers.
