Mooring study and fender upgrade concept design
AW Maritime Pty Ltd (AWM) was engaged by Patrick Maritime Pty Ltd to undertake a mooring study to
evaluate mooring loads on the bollards at Berths 7, Berth 8 and Berth 9 Brotherson Dock, Port Botany. The objective of the study was to evaluate the adequacy of the existing mooring system, comprising wharf mounted bollards, to moor current and future larger vessels.
We also completed an engineering review of fendering options to ensure optimum cost effectiveness and performance. AWM undertook preliminary design of a new replacement soft fendering system utilising unit element fenders and purpose sized fender panels.
