St Leonards – Local Port Area Plan
AW Maritime were engaged by Parks Victoria to develop a Local Port Area Plan (LPAP) for the St Leonards Jetty and surrounding on-water components.
The key focus items included, Heritage Studies, Technical Background Review and a Preferred Layout Plan.
The Heritage component of the project involved comprehensively assessing and documenting the historical and cultural heritage aspects related to the St Leonards Jetty site. This involved examining the existing cultural heritage values as stipulated in the Victorian Heritage Register (VHR), Heritage Inventory listings, and heritage overlays.
The technical background review included an in-depth examination of statutory controls and their implications, such as those outlined in the planning scheme and the Marine and Coastal Act. The review also included a condition assessment report of the existing assets.
The preferred layout plan identified the future layout, use, and functionality of St Leonards Jetty. The plan considered the implications of on-water movement and access, user needs, maritime heritage, environmental values, coastal processes, Aboriginal cultural heritage, and cost estimates.
AW Maritime worked with quantity surveyors (North Projects) to prepare cost estimates for the various design options.
