Victorian Coastal Protection Structures Condition Assessments, VIC

AW Maritime were engaged to undertake a condition inspection and assessment of all coastal protection assets on crown land in Victoria. The inspection was undertaken using DELWP’s inspection guidelines and the inspection data was input directly into the client’s asset management database. The inspection included confirmation of asset identification, asset dimensions, primary materials, photo collection, existing attributes, overall asset condition and inspection frequency for next recommended inspection. Where defects were seen, the defects were identified, located using GPS, photographed and recorded directly into the database. The types of assets included:

  • Seawalls – masonry, timber and concrete
  • Groynes – rock and timber
  • Revetments – rock and geotextile
  • Breakwaters – rock

The inspections included assets located in South West Victoria, Geelong and Bellarine, Port Phillip Bay and Western Ports, South East Victoria and Gippsland. Over 1300 assets were inspected as part of the project by the AW Maritime team.
