AW Maritime completed a brief condition assessment in 2023 which involved a swim-through of the piles and a visual inspection of the concrete headstocks, slab plants and connections. AWM also inspected the mooring equipment including bollards, tension brackets and surrounding concrete soffits areas.
Following the condition assessment, AW Maritime were engaged to provided recommendations for the remediation of the Yarraville Berth 5 Main Wharf. This involved a structural assessment of the wharf subject to vertical loading, mooring loads and berthing loads based on the current condition. A Spacegass 3D model was developed to understand the distribution of vertical loads around the piles as well to understand the effect of forklift loads on the concrete headstocks and berthing on the concrete piles.
